Employment law issues on menu

A free lunch club for people working in HR in Shropshire will serve up advice on the latest employment issues.

Hosted by law firm FBC Manby Bowdler, the HR Lunch Club will focus on the latest developments in employment law at its office in Telford on November 17.

On the menu for discussion will be the implications of an Employment Tribunal ruling that has allowed 7,000 workers to pursue an equal pay claim against supermarket giant Asda, workplace privacy claims for misuse and disclosure of personal data, an update on holiday pay following a recent decision in a case against British Gas and Tesco's proposals to change its pay rates for working unsociable hours.

The HR Lunch Club is open to anyone who has to deal with employees at any level, from experienced in-house human resources managers to those with no HR experience.

The meetings offer practical advice in an informal environment and the firm's Employment Team will also be on hand to answer any questions.

Employment lawyer Julia Fitzsimmons said: "There have been a number of cases recently affecting high profile employers that will have implications for all businesses so the Lunch Club is a chance for HR professionals to bring themselves up-to-date on the latest developments in the fast moving world of employment law as well as getting valuable HR advice.

"People can share valuable tips and real life experiences or raise issues, problems or good practice in the workplace, with a view to increasing their employee engagement and productivity, minimise business costs and generally manage HR and employment tasks more efficiently.”

To register your attendance at the HR Lunch Club, which begins at 12.45pm, please contact s.pearson@fbcmb.co.uk
