Hope House darts boost

Shropshire house builders Galliers Homes have scored a bullseye with their sponsorship of a charity darts competition.

Galliers has donated £500 to the event, being organised by the Severn Darts Organisation on November 20 in aid of Hope House Hospice.

The Shrewsbury-based firm, which builds housing developments across the county, is also entering a team in the competition, to be held at Harlescott Social Club, and donating a raffle prize.

“Our sales administrator Di Peatroy is a keen darts player and asked us if we would provide sponsorship,” said Andy Gough, sales and marketing director of Galliers Homes, which has its head office in Bellstone.

“We know what an excellent organisation Hope House is, having donated money earlier in the year to its new sensory garden, so we were happy to support the competition with a donation and a huge teddy as a raffle prize.”

One of the organisers Sue Lane, local business manager of Santander Shrewsbury, said that this was the first time an event like this had been held, with players taking part in a round-robin contest.

She commented: “There has been a superb response from the darts players of Shrewsbury – it is already sold out with 21 teams entered and each person paying £5 to take part.

“It is hoped that with Galliers’ very generous donation, other sponsorships and the raffle we will raise around £2,000. If we manage this then Santander will double it, making the overall gift to Hope House £4,000.”

Lynsey Kilvert, Hope House area fund raiser, thanked Galliers and all the darts players for their donation of the competition.
