A leading educational trust in Shropshire is entering an exciting new chapter, with changes across its all-through schools set to deliver further growth and opportunity.
The Old Hall School in Wellington has now changed its name to become Wrekin Prep (4–11), strengthening ties with Wrekin College (11–18). Both schools already share the same campus and belong to the same trust.
The new name, which was announced to the community last year, marks a natural progression that celebrates the strengths of the all-through model.
It signals a new chapter in the school’s long and proud history, and one which openly recognises and celebrates the successes and strengths of the all-through school community, both within and beyond the campus.
The relationship allows for increased sharing of facilities and expertise to further ensure consistently high standards and innovation in a school environment where children enjoy learning, embrace opportunity and thrive both academically and personally.
Wrekin Prep is also set to welcome a new headteacher in 2026. Craig Wiliams will take up the role in January, moving from his current post as headteacher at Abingdon Prep School in Oxford.
As Craig prepares for his arrival, he said that he was very much looking forward to joining a forward-thinking trust which valued heritage while also strategically planning for an ambitious future.
He said: “I am delighted to be joining the Wrekin Prep community as it looks forward to this exciting new chapter which will see efforts continue to build stronger links with Wrekin College.”
