Breweries' deal with retailer

Twenty local beer, cider and ale producers are toasting their success after securing listings with a major retailer in Shropshire this month.

The Midcounties Co-operative Food, which operates 14 stores in Shropshire, is throwing its support behind local suppliers by offering more than 45 new products from the 20 drinks producers in its stores in the region.

The new local beers and ales range include products from Hobsons Brewery in Cleobury Mortimer, Salopian Brewery in Hadnall and Ludlow Brewing Company.

The new products are part of Midcounties’ ‘Best of Our Counties’ range, which offers food and drink products from local Shropshireproducers.

Reuben Crouch, commercial director at Hobsons Brewery, said: “We’ve been working closely with The Midcounties Co-operative’s local food team who have been very supportive in helping us to introduce our products to more people in Shropshire.

“We’ve established a good relationship with The Midcounties Co-operative over the years and are now supplying to even more of their stores in the area. This has allowed us to further develop our range of products and continue to grow as a business.”

Matt Fletcher, direct sourcing manager at The Midcounties Co-operative Food, said: “We’re committed to supporting local suppliers who make fantastic food and drink products that we know people in the community will love.

"By investing in our ‘Best of Our Counties’ range we can showcase all the great products made locally in Shropshire”
