Furniture firm secures overseas deals

Three prestigious international schools in France, Switzerland and Singapore have hired Spaceoasis, based in Hortonwood, to design, manufacture and install the interiors for their new school buildings.

The furniture company’s continued overseas success has created new career opportunities for local people including Will McGarry, who has joined the company as a technical designer.

Will’s job is to help the design team prepare highly-detailed and precise manufacturing drawings so the production team, also located in Hortonwood, can make the furniture.

Spaceoasis makes every item of its furniture to order so clients can specify the precise size and finish they want for their school.

Will has been working on refining and detailing the design of Lego and robotics tables for a school in Switzerland, with three different heights for three different age ranges of children, adjustable shelving and specific finishes.

He said: “It’s really interesting work because every project is different.  It gives me the opportunity to be creative and I’ve been working on a bespoke version of our CC20 outdoor learning space. "

Spaceoasis has delivered projects for Eton College, Dulwich College, Queen Anne’s School, Wimbledon High School, Clongowes Wood College in Ireland, Apex 2100 in France, and the exclusive Aiglon College in Switzerland to name just a few.

This summer they will be installing their furniture in schools in Rheintal, Switzerland, and Singapore, along with several projects in the UK.  Spaceoasis delivers research-led design, helping schools to build learning environments that are more effective and deliver a better experience for teachers and learners alike.
