A Shropshire law firm will be marking National Dementia Week by giving their backing to a team of women who will be cycling and walking 450 miles across three counties in eight days.
Staff at Lanyon Bowdler are sponsoring stRIDE17 which has been organised by Virginia Bailey and will see the team raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society and Dementia UK.
Virginia has organised a team of 12 ladies who will be cycling and walking 450 miles across three countries in eight days.
Giles Scott, head of the private client team at Lanyon Bowdler said: “When we heard about Virginia’s fundraising we thought it was a perfect way to not only mark National Dementia Week but also raise much needed funds for the charities which do such fantastic work.
“Alongside our sponsorship of Virginia and her team we will also be organising some dementia awareness training for our staff.
“In the line of work our staff are involved in it is inevitable they will meet people who suffer with Alzheimer’s or dementia, so it imperative they are aware of the best ways to deal with their clients and of course their families.”
Virginia and her team, supported by Unforgettable, the world’s best marketplace of products and services for dementia and memory loss, will embark on their journey during August this year in order to raise awareness and funds for the two charities.
Dementia Awareness Week runs from May 14 to 20 and the Alzheimer’s Society is asking everyone across England, Wales and Northern Ireland to “unite against dementia” by raising awareness, offering help and understanding, improve care and urgently find a cure.
