Supporting the next generation

A Shropshire IT business has pledged to support young people and the next generation of entrepreneurs from across the region.

Network Support Solutions, based at Shrewsbury Business Park, will sponsor the Shropshire Young Enterprise awards for the second year running.

Shropshire hosts a special awards evening for Young Enterprise teams which is sponsored by, and attended by, leading businesses across the county.

Young Enterprise will be celebrating the achievements of young people with business leaders at The Park Inn in Telford on May 4, 2017.

Katy Jones, managing director of Network Support Solutions, will sponsor the Best Use of ICT award and said she was delighted to be involved once again.

“There are so many talented youngsters in Shropshire who do so much in the business world.

“Having a business and enterprise education charity like Young Enterprise so active in the county means our young people have access to help and support to strengthen their skills, and I feel it is really important to support them,” she added.

“We are thrilled to be sponsoring the Best Use of ICT award. The rate and size of advancements in technology means ICT is a critical and crucial part of any business today and we are looking forward to hearing about the different ways in which youngsters have been using ICT.”

The awards, will be attended by young people from across the county aged 15 to 19, along with hundreds of specially invited guests.

Barbara Rainford, a volunteer with Young Enterprise, said the awards evening was always a very inspirational event with a fantastic atmosphere.

“The young people involved are always very excited and often overwhelmed by the awards as they are the result of a lot of hard work, blood, sweat and tears getting a business off the ground,” she added.

Young Enterprise was first launched in 1963 in Chatham, Kent and attracted 113 teenagers who set up eight student companies.

It now works with over 220,000 young people aged four to 25 years in 5,000 schools, colleges and universities with help from volunteers from 3,500 businesses.

Network Support Solutions is based on Shrewsbury Business Park and works with businesses to help them make the most of IT in their day-to-day running.
