Pupils at Thomas Telford Primary Free School in Telford have received a donation of reflective bag tags from David Wilson Homes.
The donation comes as part of Road Safety Week (November 16 to 22) to help the children get to and from school safely.
The housebuilder gave the school 100 hi-vis bag tags for its pupils to use while walking down busy streets, ensuring they can be easily seen on the roads when visibility is reduced on darker mornings and evenings.
Road Safety Week is a national initiative organised by Brake, encouraging people to ensure they are being careful when by the roadside.
Headteacher Claire Whiting said: “We are very grateful to David Wilson Homes for their generous donation. Road safety is an important part of our pupils’ learning, and these reflective bag tags will help ensure that our children are visible and safe when travelling to and from school, especially during the darker winter months.”
The school is located near David Wilson Homes’ Hughes Meadow and Otters Reach developments in Lawley and Ironbridge and the donation of hi-vis bag tags is part of the housebuilder’s outreach to the local community.
Helen Lewis, managing director at David Wilson Homes Mercia, said: “We want to ensure the children in the local community remain visible and safe when walking to and from school and our donation will hopefully help the pupils at Thomas Telford Primary Free School when they are on school excursions too."
