Motor dealership breaks new ground

Shropshire motor dealers Furrows have become one of the very first in the UK - and the only one in the county - to be chosen as a specialist Ford Transit centre.

The brand new purpose-built centre has been officially opened at Furrows of Shrewsbury, in Harlescott Lane, by Chairman and Managing Director of Ford of Britain, Andy Barratt.

He joined Furrows Chairman Nic Coward and Jane Coward – the wife of the previous chairman John Coward – to cut the ribbon at a special ceremony to mark the unveiling of the new facility, watched by guests including long-standing customers and dealership staff.

Furrows Joint Managing Director Russ Smith said the new centre was part of Ford’s nationwide restructure of their commercial dealer network, with Furrows chosen as one of a select number of franchises in the UK. “To become a specialist dealer we have invested in new showroom and servicing facilities, extra staff and new operational procedures – it’s so much more than just a sign above the door,” said Russ.

Furrows is one of a handful of Ford Transit dealers to have the capacity to display the full range inside their showroom, as well as an extended line-up outside too. As well as the popular panel vans, Shrewsbury Transit Centre also stocks the Luton and Tipper van ranges, as well as offering bespoke vehicles to meet commercial customers’ individual requirements.

Furrows Joint Managing Director Dave Farthing said the Group’s previous Transit Sales area had been at their Telford dealership.

“To become an accredited Ford Transit Centre meeting the very latest criteria, we needed more space and to reach a wider geographical area more easily, so we have invested in creating the brand new Shrewsbury facility.

“Our commitment to meeting the new Ford standards is testimony to our dedication to our Ford Transit customers and to our ongoing aim to provide the best possible products and service across Shropshire and the surrounding areas.

“Whether you’re a fleet buyer or a sole trader, or looking to purchase or lease a vehicle, our experienced team can help you find the very best vehicle to suit your needs, and we’re delighted to be chosen as the only accredited Ford Transit Centre in Shropshire.”

The Ford Transit Centre at Furrows of Shrewsbury stands alongside the dealership’s existing showroom which stocks Ford, Mazda and Kia ranges, as well as its used car and van centre, service department, and multi-accredited accident repair centre.
