Whitchurch business group on the move

A Whitchurch business group has hailed its first meeting at a new venue as an unqualified success.

Up to 25 businesses were represented at Whitchurch Collaborative Networking’s latest meeting – the first time the group had met at the town’s Hill Valley Hotel.

Now the group hopes to stage further meetings at Hill Valley, whilst also retaining its traditional base at the Dodington Lodge in town.

Group spokesman David Burgess – one of its four founders -  said businesses had come from across north Shropshire and south Cheshire to attend Wednesday’s event, which also included lunch.

“We were delighted to see so many businesses in attendance and it was particularly pleasing to welcome some new faces to the meeting,” he said.

“It was something a little bit different for us but it seemed to be well received, and the venue was first class and the lunch excellent.”

The not-for-profit group is now considering holding more events at Hill Valley after receiving an invitation from hotel manager Mark Lloyd.

Jon Simcock, of Shrewsbury-based BrightstonePR, talked about the benefits of PR for businesses at the event, which also included an open networking session.

The group’s next meeting, on November 2, will feature help and advice from a member of the Marches Growth Hub, part of the Marches Local Enterprise Trust.
