Care firm makes the shortlist

Morris Care is celebrating three nominations for national accolades in the care industry with news after being shortlisted as finalists in the Caring UK and Leaders in Care Awards programmes.

The nursing home group’s Isle Court home in Bicton, Shrewsbury, has been shortlisted in the Regional Care Home of the Year Midlands and Wales category at the Caring UK Awards, which recognises excellence and achievement within the care sector across the UK. General manager of the 79 bed home Claire Harris is also a finalist in the Leaders in Care Awards for Registered Manager of the Year.

The Morris Care Nursing Home Group has itself been announced as a finalist in the Care Home Provider of the Year Leaders in Care Awards recognising the organisation’s outstanding care over the past 12 challenging months.

Lucy Holl, chief executive of Morris Care, said: “We are acutely aware of the dedication and commitment of our teams, but it is deeply gratifying to be recognised by our industry peers for all that hard work and endeavour. My thanks and congratulations go out to every single member of our team of 560 who together create the outstanding brand of home and care we deliver 24/7, 365 days a year.”

Lucy said she was particularly pleased to hear about Claire's nomination as her approachable management style and emphasis on teamwork resonated with her staff and had created a genuine family atmosphere at the home.

“Claire’s passion for the job is self-evident in the respect she has earnt from her amazing team and her connection with every one of her residents.  Hers is the highest rated nursing home in Shropshire with a 9.9 rating on carehome.co.uk.  She is all about providing great care and great memories for those living at Isle Court as important parts of our philosophy of best practice”.
