Event to inspire next generation

A networking opportunity aimed at inspiring the next generation of young women in the workplace will be taking place at a Shropshire school next month.

The event will be held at Adcote School for Girls, between Shrewsbury and Oswestry, on June 17, and will feature three speakers from different sectors who will be giving an insight into their thoughts on career progression possibilities for students.

Co-hosted by the school and Shropshire law firm Lanyon Bowdler, the event is free to attend but anyone wishing to go along to the session, which runs from 9.30am to 11.30am, needs to register as places will be limited.

Amanda Jones, marketing director at Lanyon Bowdler, said: “We are delighted to partner with Adcote School in this unique event which will allow students the opportunity to network with professional women in different industries.

“We are keen to broaden the invitation to anyone who would like to come along and take part in joining the students and our guest speakers to help us make it a morning that will inspire a future generation.

“It provides a special opportunity where pupils from the school can connect with professionals and gain an insight into a range of career paths that are available to them. The event will feature three inspiring speakers who are redefining what success looks like across different sectors.”

The speakers include Lisa van der Horst, the principal of the Stagecoach Theatre groups in Shrewsbury and Oswestry. Stagecoach offers children aged from four to 18 the opportunity to express themselves and learn life skills through drama, dance and singing.

The other speakers are Amy Want, a Shropshire-based travel counsellor, and Kim Cleminson-Jones, who has more than 20 years’ experience in finance and business and established her KC Accountancy Services in 2016.

Amanda said: “There is a diversity of experience among our three speakers and we are sure there will be a tremendous pool of knowledge and talent which the students will have access to.

“There is nothing quite like first-hand experience for our future entrepreneurs to draw on - particularly when it is given freely. We want to make it a morning that can help shape the future aspirations of the Adcote students.”
