Lifesavers receive valuable support

Clickingmad Ltd has donated £5,000 to West Mercia Search & Rescue (WMSAR) - the entirely volunteer-run emergency rescue charity that operates across Shropshire, Herefordshire and Worcestershire.

WMSAR provides vital land and water search and rescue support on behalf of the emergency services, helping locate missing and vulnerable people and responding to flood, water-related and other urgent calls. The organisation relies completely on volunteer time and public donations, and receives no Government funding.

“The dedication and commitment shown by WMSAR volunteers is nothing short of extraordinary,” said Shaun Carvill, managing director of Clickingmad. “They’re normal people doing truly heroic work, often in challenging conditions, at all hours. With this donation, we hope to help them continue delivering lifesaving support to our communities.”

WMSAR’s annual cost for training, equipment and operations is funded entirely through charitable contributions and fundraising. The Lifesavers £5,000 donation from Clickingmad as part of its 25th anniversary celebrations will help fund vital kit, training courses and operational readiness, making sure the team can respond safely and effectively when lives are at stake.

As a registered charity and member of the national Lowland Rescue network, WMSAR carries out searches on foot, by boat, swift-water teams, and more - supporting police, fire services and environmental agencies when time matters most. In 2024 alone, WMSAR logged 71 callouts and more than 6,000 volunteer hours.

“Every call-out could be the difference between despair and hope for a family, and we could not do this work without support from organisations like Clickingmad,” said Marcel LeCocq, chair of trustees for WMSAR.

“This donation will go directly towards equipment, training and response readiness. It means we can keep saving lives safely and effectively.”

The donation forms part of Clickingmad’s 25 in 25 Acts of Kindness - a year-long initiative to carry out 25 charitable actions in 2025 to mark 25 years in business. Previous 25 in 25 efforts have included volunteering at hospices, supporting care homes, tree planting, digital support for charities and a team skydive.
