An award-winning manufacturing company has launched an innovative new product which gives staff quick and easy access to otherwise hard-to-reach heights.
Seymour Manufacturing International (SMI), based in Telford, has created a new portable Safe Four-Step Trolley – targeted specifically at retail and warehousing staff.
It sits alongside the company’s existing and long-established Two-Step and Three-Step versions, which have been keeping merchandising staff safe at some of the UK’s biggest retailers for over 25 years.

“The secret is as simple as it is effective,” he said. “The minute you pull down the steps, the wheels are automatically lifted off the ground and your weight anchors the unit to the floor so you can safely stand on the steps.
“Returning the steps to their wheeling position allows the unit to glide easily on its four swivel wheels to the next location.”
SMI’s business development manager Ross Clarke added: “There are so many different uses for this simple but effective product, which couldn’t be easier to move and operate.
“It is perfect for supermarkets, shops, warehouses, cash and carry stores, hospitals, medical centres, schools, libraries – anywhere which involves staff trying to retrieve products from awkward or hard-to-reach heights.”
The units are made from high quality robust aluminium, and thick non-slip tread plate is used for each step with rolled down tread plate at the front and back of each step.
SMI also manufactures a range of detachable waste bags which can be fitted to the steps – available in most colours to suit the corporate branding of customers. The detachable bag is secured using turn button fasteners, which makes it easy to remove for emptying, and to re-install.
