A Shropshire taxi firm says it has been delighted with the response to its call for more drivers - but is still looking to take on more.
Bosses at Go Carz, the county's largest private hire firm, issued the appeal for 50 new drivers in the Telford area just before Christmas and say the response was extremely positive.
Cindy Wilday, area director for Go Carz (pictured), said the firm was pleased with the results but its continued expansion meant it was in a position to take on more than the 50 drivers originally advertised for.
"This is always an ongoing situation and we look at whether we are providing enough drivers to adequately cover any given area at any given time," she said.
"We were aware before Christmas that in order to continue giving the level of service to our customers we desire, we needed to have more drivers on our books in Telford.
"It is important to have enough drivers to meet demand so customers can always get a taxi whenever they needed one without the need for a lengthy wait.
"We had a great response to our appeal through the media but still need to take on more drivers in Telford. And, to be honest, if we end up with more than the 50 we originally wanted we would be in a position to keep them.
"The way things are, with business booming like it is, we are likely to be looking for more drivers again at some point as we move forward.
"Anyone wanting to know more about the job is welcome to give us a ring. And you don't have to have taxi driving experience to join us - we are finding an increasing number of people turning to our trade after working in other walks of life.
"Drivers can pretty much work the hours they want, and people find that flexibility very attractive. In many cases it means our drivers can work around other commitments.
"Another advantage for any new driver is the fact that our rent for a self-employed driver to work for Go Carz is the lowest in the area, which is another positive point for anyone looking to work as a private hire driver.
