New cafe and farm shop opens for business

A new café and farm shop has opened on the edge of the Combermere Abbey estate near Whitchurch.

Jon Bailey and Claudia Joos have embarked on this exciting business venture together to offer delicious food and drink, sometimes with a continental twist as well as a selection of gifts for everyone in the North Shropshire and South Cheshire regions.

As a fellow tenant on Park View Business Centre, ‘famous’ council clerk Jackie Weaver (from the Cheshire Association of Local Councils) accepted the official ribbon cutting responsibility.

The Old Piggery Café at Combermere will be open seven days a week, specifically Monday to Saturday between 8.30am and 4pm and on Sunday between 9.30am and 4pm.

Breakfast, brunch and lunch with German specialities, assorted freshly made sandwiches, choice of homemade cakes and cheesecakes, quality coffee, teas and soft drinks will all be on the menu. In addition, hand-made glass gifts, artisan chocolates and other presents will be available.

Jon Bailey says: “We really look forward to welcoming local people to our locally sourced and home-made food venue. We are passionate about delivering exceptionally tasty and great value products in a wonderful rural setting.

“After the rigours of the Covid pandemic, it will be fantastic to help people get back to enjoying themselves. For many, taking some time out with others will be a much needed return to normality.”
