New home for property firm

Shropshire property, business and planning firm Berrys has moved to a new, larger office building on Shrewsbury Business Park.

The new building, Beech House, is on Anchorage Avenue on Phase 2 of the Business Park, adjacent to the new Co-op food store and Greggs.

The new office occupies about 10,000 sq.ft. in a prominent position overlooking one of the ponds on the park.

It will accommodate the firm’s property, business and planning departments and includes break-out space for staff and extensive meeting rooms for clients. It was completed in March and Berrys moved in mid-April.

Matthew Anwyl, managing partner of Berrys, said: “As Berrys’ specialisms have broadened, so has the team. Staff numbers at the Shrewsbury office have been growing for a number of years so it was time for us to find new premises more fitting to our staff and clients’ needs.

“Staying on Shrewsbury Business Park means that we don’t lose any of the benefits of our original office space, such as parking and accessibility from the major road networks, yet we now have an office with more space for our growing team and better facilities and additional parking for our visiting clients.”

The building has been nearly two years in the making with specialists at Berrys providing the design, obtaining the planning consents and overseeing the build.

Berrys partner Chris Jones who managed the project said: “This has been a real team effort involving Shrewsbury Business Park developers Alaska Property Group, building contractors Matrix Construction and quantity surveyors from Metrics Consultants.”

The projects involved a lot of planning work which Berrys did in-house with Stuart Thomas, head of planning, working closely with local planning officers to achieve an attractive new building with work space fit for the future.

“We are really pleased with the new premises,” said Stuart. “We are occupying the first floor of the building in a modern open-plan layout with teams integrated to enable staff to work together and communicate more easily to create an enjoyable and productive working environment.”
