New part-time accountancy courses in Telford

Accountancy is one of the fastest-growing professional service sectors in the UK – and Telford College is launching a new series of part-time diploma courses offering important qualifications.

Enrolment is now open for the latest series of AAT accounting qualifications, which are designed to prepare people for a high-profile role in a wide range of industries including payroll, insolvency administration, and tax supervision.

The college works closely with The Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) to keep course content up to date – ensuring students are learning about regulation updates as they happen.

Lily Edgington (pictured), an accounts assistant at Direct Business Services (Midlands) Ltd in Wolverhampton, completed levels two and three courses at Telford College, and is now working towards level four.

She says: “I’ve enjoyed my course, and I recommend it to anyone who works in accounts or is looking to move into a career in accounting.”

Lily, 21, started the AAT course at Level 2 after completing her A Levels and began her career in the accountancy practice as an office junior.

Two years later, she explains: “The content of the course has helped me in the workplace to understand why and how things are done, which in turn has helped me to progress in the business.”

Graham Guest, Telford College principal and chief executive said: “Our AAT accounting qualifications provide an insight into the principles and processes of key accounting tasks, like maintaining cost accounting records and the preparation of reports and returns.

“You’ll learn all the important basics about accounting, including double-entry book-keeping, balancing off ledger accounts, preparing a trial balance, and how to code and present financial information.”

For more information about the part-time options now available through Telford College, call the course hotline on 01952 642237, or see the part-time courses section at www.telfordcollege.ac.uk.
