Telford College will be showcasing its automotive engineering facilities to the local business community at a special networking and fact-finding evening.
The event is being held at the college’s state-of-the-art automotive centre on Monday March 30, starting at 6.30pm.
Ben Armstrong, the college’s curriculum leader for automotive engineering, explained: “The event will include a live demonstration of the latest Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) calibration.
“Experts from Hella-Gutmann Solutions will be on hand to answer questions about the technology, and how it can affect local automotive businesses.”
Specialists from The Garage Magazine will also be on site to deliver a presentation about latest developments and trends in the automotive industry.
And the Telford College apprenticeship team will be around to answer questions about new apprenticeship standards, the Government levy, and other work-based learning issues.
Ben said: “The automotive industry is an ever-changing and ever-evolving sector. Modern vehicles have numerous safety features - braking assistance, lane control, autonomous driving and blind-spot detection to name just a few.
“As an industry we must be aware of the challenges that ADAS presents for the modern automotive engineer.”
Representatives from the West Midlands Combined Authority will also be available to discuss free funding opportunities, and Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) members can claim up to two hours of continuing professional development time by attending.
Free refreshments will be available. For more details, or to register, see the events page at www.telfordcollege.ac.uk
